Scottsdale New Years Eve Restaurant Deals

There is no shortage of choices in Scottsdale for a beautiful New Years Eve dinner. Below is a sampling, showing the wide variety of prices and offerings available.

Of particular interest are Calistro and Talavera, because Chef Devin Walsh of Calistro offers something completely new to the Phoenix area, dishes prepared using the sous vide method, and Chef Mel Mecinas of Talavera (at the Four Seasons) has a truly deluxe menu planned.

At Calistro, foods prepared sous vide are cooked in air-tight plastic in a circulating water bath at a carefully controlled temperature much lower than conventional cooking and for a much longer time—48-72 hours is not unusual. The intention (and result) is both an improved appearance and texture of ingredients.

At Talavera, an exceptional tasting menu is offered including this incredible list of items: Osetra caviar sweet corn bread, smoked salmon with citrus and vodka crème fraiche, tower of Peeky Toe crab meat, ricotta and egg ravioli with shaved Périgord truffle, pan-seared filet of rouget with tarragon gnocchi, an intermezzo of Champagne with carbonated red grapes, Australian Black Moore Wagyu strip loin, pancetta-wrapped Maine lobster tail with fennel puree and baby beets, and for dessert, what the restaurant is calling an “evolution of chocolate.”

Wow. Enjoy!

Of course, all of these restaurants are popular and are likely to fill up quickly. To make it easier for you, below is a list of each restaurants hot-linked to their web page so you can quickly obtain more information about location and menu specifics, and make reservations if desired.

Bloom, The Greene House, North, Lon’s at the Hermosa, Modern Steak, Olive & Ivy, Tapas Papa Frita, Calistro Bistro, Talavera.
